Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions
How long are your herbs infused?
Our herbs are infused in olive oil for at least 8 weeks, depending on the herb itself, as some herbs, such as roots, take longer to macerate to their highest potential.
Which brand of essential oils do you prefer to use, and why?
The quality of essential oils matters greatly. How the herbs are grown, where they are grown, which are cultivated organically, and which are wildcrafted, their sustainability, and the process in which they use to extract and bottle their oils are all critical elements of the final product. Because of this we choose to buy our essential oils from a company known as Pranoram. Their oils are only extracted from plants which have been sustainably and organically harvested. Each lot of organic oil is third party certified organic, GS/MS (Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry) and CTEO (Chemotyped Essential Oils). They are never diluted - like you might find in some other organic suppliers - and they are certified organic. For more on Pranoram visit their website here.
Why do you only buy from businesses, mostly small, in the USA?
First and foremost, we want to support others like us. We know all about the time, love, endurance, and passion that comes with owning and running a small business. Additionally, we feel it is important to buy from companies in the United States so that we may support our national economy and believe that we are more likely to establish better working relationships in customer service and a better understanding of the quality of each ingredient and product we purchase and use in our own products. It also means less travel time for our ingredients when we chose as local as possible, leaving us with a fresher, happier, and more dependable line of ingredients.
Are your products certified organic?
No. All the ingredients we use in our products are either certified organic or made using organically grown and process methods. Most of our ingredients go above and beyond the requirements for the organic certification (regenerative farming, biodynamic farming, etc.). The ingredients which are certified organic in our products are marked with an * so you can see exactly which are certified, and which are not.
None of the ingredients we use are GMO or synthetic, nor do they come with more ingredients than are listed on our own labels. There is nothing hidden in our final product. Except maybe love and a little butterfly essence. :-)
Are your products FDA tested or approved?
No. Read our explanation for what it means to work with an herbalist and sell herbal products in the USA according to the FDA here.
Will your herbal products heal or cure me of my physical ailments?
Absolutely not. Only your mind and body can do that work, with a little help from up above, of course. We suggest in the description of every product that you should always get to the bottom of any longstanding health issues before, during, or after using our products. You may contact Dani directly to book a clinical herbalist consultation, check out the Education Tab on this website to begin your research, and of course seek outside experts to lead you on your way back to balance. Your overall health is always yours and yours alone.
What makes your herbal products so luxurious?
The highest quality ingredients available, specialty jars and bottles (see Why We Use Violet Glass Containers), the kinetic energy generated by the herbal combinations in each recipe, and all the time and attention towards making every single, small batch, by hand, ensuring the end result is the best it can possibly be and exactly as originally designed by Dani.
Should we return our jars and bottles after use?
Yes, please. You will receive $2 credit for every bottle or jar returned to use on your next order.
What exactly is small batch?
Small batch means made in small batches! Each of our batches only creates 3 small and 3 large jars of product. This translates to made slowly and attentively, with only the attention and intentions that can come from loving human hands.
Why does handmade equate to better quality over machine made?
It's going back to the old world when everything was made by hand. It's the love, compassion, and essence that can only come from a real living crafter. It is romance, concern, and frequency that only a human being can carry. A machine will always be second best. In our opinion anyway. ;-)
What happens when one of your ingredient suppliers goes out of stock?
We simply put our own product on hold. Quality over quantity. Always.
Does your tallow come from cattle that have been vaccinated, or given antibiotics or hormones?
Our tallow supplier guarantees that the small farms from which they purchase do NOT EVER use hormones or antibiotics on their cattle, and they are 100 percent needle free (no vaccines).
Why is all your soap unscented?
For three reasons. One, because the scent of high-quality essential oils often goes astray during the cold process soap maturation period, and we refuse to lower our standards and opt for lower quality essential oils or even simple 'natural scents'. Two, because it's nearly impossible to find unscented natural soap today, and somebody ought to do it. And three, because it keeps cleansing about nothing more than cleansing, an important way to aid the body in taking a break from all the worlds' stimulation and overstimulation, allowing a bit of a 'fast' for the body so that it may better cope with the sensory overload in our current modern society.
Why will you only purchase and use olive oil stored in dark, glass containers?
Olive oil, essentially the fresh fruit juice of olives, stored in plastic not only accumulates toxins naturally occurring within the material itself, but it also renders the olive oil rancid much quicker and easier than when stored properly, in dark glass bottles. When olive oil goes rancid it is not easily detectable by the untrained human nose. We want to eliminate all possibility of a lesser than product on our part. Purchasing the best of the best available olive oil, stored in the best of the best environments, in small, dark, glass containers, from a small olive farm right down the street from our own farm, is really the only way to go as far as we are concerned.
Why do you play uplifting music around your herbs during infusion?
It's all about the frequency of things. :-) For more on that, check out the Education Tab.
Will you eventually be selling herbal tinctures in your Apothecary?
It's unlikely. While there is nothing inherently wrong with herbal tinctures based in alcohol (it is a traditional herbal method of extracting plant constituents, after all), we feel as though it is our job to help the world see how miraculous the body is in accepting information directly through the skin, generally with much less side effects, and often, quicker results.
What is structured water and why do you include it in some of your products?
Read about the benefits of structured water here.
How do I take off the jar labels once I'm ready to reuse the jar for something else?
Simply aim a hair dryer at the label on high for 10-20 seconds and peel it off. Clean your jar, and now you have a brand new Miron glass container to store herbs or other perishables.
Are all your art prints made to order?
Yes. Less waste for us and the world. More unique for you.
Can I print my photo file in basically any size?
Basically, yes! ;-)
How much money will I save by having the photo file printed myself?
A lot! Much of the markup for artwork comes down to preparing the print, driving to and from the print shop, shipping cost & materials, and time.
What are some fine art online print shops you recommend?
We use the following online fine art shop, based out of California:
Our local Austin print shop of choice is:
(We currently use only Agave Print for physical prints sold in person)
Can I purchase artwork printed by you with a signature?
Of course! For a small fee, simply make a note upon purchase. Art files sent directly to you through email cannot be signed, however.
Are your art prints Limited Edition only?
All art pieces are sold only 22 times. This means once the 22nd copy is sold it will no longer be available for purchase, making it more unique and personal to each purchaser.
Do you accept returns?
No, as just about every product is made to order. We do not keep large amounts of product in stock for the sake of freshness, frequency, and specialty. However, should an issue arise, please contact us as soon as possible so that we may remedy the situation immediately.
