Get Your House In Order -Your Health From Your Home

Have you ever visited a new friend or aquaintance's home, or even walked into an office and just felt, as soon as you walked in the door, an immediate change of 'vibe' around you? Sudden feelings of calm, peace, love, happiness, or even those of chaos, disorder, sadness, or apprehension?

Even if you couldn't pin down why.

Even when the people living or working within that dwelling were of a different vibe than the one of the physical space around them.

Even when the people who lived in that house were not around, you've never met them, or you didn't know of them at all personally? (For example, walking in a physical space while shopping for a new home or office.)

 "Get Your House In Order"

This phrase usually refers to your metephorical house. It means to 'arrange your affairs, get organized, solve your problems'.

It's used by philosophers of old, and of today.

Even the Bible refers to getting your house in order.

It could also mean getting your most personal temple, your body, in order. Cleaning up your diet, clearing your mind, addressing illness, and coming up with and following a more specific routine of health.

Even rearranging your friendship circle could be part of 'getting your house in order'.

Today I'm writing about the physical place in which you live.

Your literal house.

Your home.

Because it seems, at least for me, that when you get your physical home in order, it becomes way easier to get the rest in order too.

It comes almost 'naturally'. Wanting to improve other areas of your life.

And not because someone is telling us to do it. Simply because it 'feels' better. Sunnier. Lighter.

Feng Shui (pronounced - "feng sh-oo-ae").

An ancient Chinese method of getting your physical house in order.  Also described as "a traditional form of geomancy (a term referring to the spiritual or metaphysical practice related to the Earth) that originated in Ancient China and claims to use energy forces to harmonize individuals with their surrounding environment." 1

I've never actually read any research on the matter. It's always just been a 'known thing' for me, possibly because it was an 'emphasized thing' in my house while growing up.

But lately I've wondered if there's more to it then I've assumed in the past. Especially since we are currently in the process of building a house from scratch.

So, as I do, I looked for and found a few studies on the matter.

On Feng Shui, but also on the matter of interior home design, layout, and the 'vibes', for good or for bad, that come with the organization of the home.

And I'm sharing them with you.

Let me know when you think!

Happy reading. :-)
